Like the Classic Tricorder, the medical version enhances personnel of two classifications (MEDICAL and SCIENCE this time) and allows all to add one skill, selected from MEDICAL, Biology, and Exobiology, reselecting once each turn if desired. While you can't switch skills during a mission attempt, you can easily tailor your skill set to cure many dilemmas after the attempt is over. Garak Has Some Issues or Odo's "Cousin"? Select Exobiology. REM Fatigue? Extra MEDICAL is what you need. Rascals or Aphasia Device? Choose Biology (especially useful when your MEDICALs lose a first-listed Biology to Rascals). All from one versatile piece of equipment.

- Classic Medical Tricorder + any dilemma requiring multiple MEDICALs: Tsiolkovsky Infection, REM Fatigue Hallucinations, Aphasia Device..., even after DNA Clues, you can have MEDICAL aplenty to cure these.
