    While his MEDICAL/SCIENCE combination is invaluable for any number of dilemmas, and Resistance overcomes No Loose Endsimage, saving your MEDICALs and ENGINEERs, his most important skill is his ability to nullify Aphasia Deviceimage. If this dilemma quarantines your ship far from home, it's almost certain the crew will die a slow death as the staff get disabled one by one. Bajorans just need to make sure they have Surmak Ren aboard when attempting a space mission, to instantly nullify it, or bring him in later.

    • Surmak Ren + Devidian Doorimage: If you left home without him, a Devidian Door could save your entire ship and crew from a Gamma Quadrant Aphasia Deviceimage.
