Mission Fatigue

    Mission Fatigue

When under extreme stress, even highly trained veterans can experience lapses in judgment. Miles O'Brien and Worf fought each other while they were besieged by Jem'Hadar in 2373.

    Rule hint for this card

    This card has an clarification:

While this dilemma is in play atop the mission, treat each subsequent dilemma or Q-Flash encountered as if it had the following text before its actual text: “ ‘Stops’ one personnel (random selection); cannot get past unless any other personnel remain.” (A Q-Flash will “stop” only one personnel, not one for each Q-icon card encountered.) In other words, the randomly selected personnel is not “stopped” until the dilemma is revealed and encountered, but you must have at least one personnel left to face the actual dilemma text.

Personnel are “stopped” normally (until start of next turn), not for the duration of the countdown. The subsequent dilemma is responsible for “stopping” the personnel, not the Mission Fatigue dilemma. See actions - step 1: initiation, combo dilemma.

Taken form Glossary - Version 1.9.5.

    Mission Fatigue

This Card-Review article was written by Kathy McCracken and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Jan 11th, 1999.

This dilemma will really leave your opponent in a quandary. If he doesn't pass it, his Away Team is "stopped," and he has a choice of either avoiding the mission for three turns while the countdown expires, or reattempting with the knowledge that one random personnel will be extracted from his Away Team each time he hits a dilemma. Even if he scans the mission, there's no way to plan for the skills that will be lost. Even if he has the skills to pass each subsequent dilemma, it still "stops" someone and makes it unlikely he'll have the skills left to solve the mission that turn.

    Combos:

    • Mission Fatigue + Risky Businessimage: He'll always have at least one one-person crew or Away Team - the one that was just "stopped" when he encountered Risky Business.
    • Mission Fatigue + Punishment Boximage + Seismic Quakeimage: The Punishment Box will take out two personnel (one "stopped" by Mission Fatigue, one OFFICER in the box); Seismic Quake will "stop" two more (or "stop" one and kill one). If by then you've lost any Geology you had, the dilemma goes back under the mission. Each subsequent attempt while Mission Fatigue is counting down will "stop" and/or kill three personnel. Maybe you should try a different mission...
