The most obvious use of this artifact is to turn a 25-point mission into a 50-pointer. While you would have to complete another mission first to earn it (under most circumstances), it will be well worth your while: 50 points, a unique personnel, universal Bajorans - not a bad haul for the fairly minimal requirements of STRENGTH > 40 and either one skill (Transporter Skill) or a landed ship.
What may not be so obvious about the Earring is that once you acquire it, that point boost is still available even if the artifact falls prey to an ill-timed Disruptor Overload or The Gatherers. "Once in play" is a permanent effect (for the rest of the game), unless a card specifically cancels the effect. For that matter, even if your opponent earns the Earring, you can score Rescue Prisoners at double value-the effect is not limited to the artifact's controller.
As a bonus, this artifact is so inspirational to Resistance personnel that it boosts all of their attributes by 3, giving some pretty impressive totals.
Combos:
- The Earring of Li Nalas + Secret Compartment: Assure that Rescue Prisoners will be worth 50 points, without even risking another mission attempt first.
- The Earring of Li Nalas + Kira Nerys: She's 10-10-11 (14 STRENGTH if she engages a Cardassian in combat)!
