At first glance this tactic's ATTACK bonus of 1 doesn't look promising. But that's only if you're not using Romulan ships. If a Romulan ship is firing WEAPONS in the battle, the ATTACK bonus goes up to a satisfying 3, with a DEFENSE bonus of 2. A "standard" hit (two damage markers) will yield two random casualties and total damage of RANGE -2, WEAPONS -2, SHIELDS -4 and HULL integrity -60%. The heavy SHIELD loss will make your next attack on a target very likely to destroy it. Of course, direct destruction may not be your goal; perhaps you'd like to take a captive first. A single hit with two of these cards as damage markers is virtually certain to take most ships' SHIELDS below 6, making the target a sitting duck for Romulan Ambush.
Combo:
- Plasma Torpedo + any warbird + Romulan Ambush: One hit = two casualties + one captive + one destroyed ship.
